So much to see here & so many more to watch on YouTube.
Producer Kevin Flournoy had a great idea to pair Phil and Shannon together in both studio and in a cozy L.A. setting
to cover this classic hit with a blanket of style.
Eric Tagg, a co-writer of "Is It You?'" was out ill, and so Phil was asked to step out of the background & sing one of Lee Ritenour's biggest hits, in his absence. He sang the song and made it his own.
Lillian sang background vocals on Phil's early solo hits, including this husband Phil's first #1...but she declined the video shoot, instead asking to direct the actress models as they lip-synched the recorded vocals. CALL ME was Phil's Thank You to Aretha, Franklin who recorded 3 of the songs that he and Chuck Jackson (of Natalie Cole & The Independents fame) had written for her.
FOREVER was written by Brenda Russell, who is singing background vocals with Lillian. Filmed in the very historic area of old San Francisco where a row of brownstones rise above the skyline, this is an example of the time of great photography in early song videos experimenting with stories, sets, and characters.
ONE TOUCH was filmed at a beautiful school for girls in Pasadena. Architecturally, the outdoor terrace was the highly of the shoot. You might recognize the little girl in the scenes as the same child actress who appeared in MATILDA as the adorable character "Lavender" a target of the villain - Miss Trunchbull. We'll look it up, and add the names of both actresses to the credits.
Chaka & Phil are 'the Girl & Boy from Illinois' - Homies'
So many songs, so little time.
