PRELUDE TO A HEARTBREAK was written by the young songwriter, Phil Perry, for the Montclairs in the 70's.
Producer Kevin Flournoy had a great idea to pair Phil and Shannon together in both studio and in a cozy L.A. setting
to cover this classic hit with a blanket of style.
Eric Tagg, a co-writer featured on the recording, was out ill, and Phil was asked to step out of the background to sing one of Lee Ritenour's biggest hits, in his absence.
He sang the song and made it his own.
Lillian sang background vocals on Phil's early solo hits, including this husband Phil's first #1...but she declined the video shoot, instead asking to direct the actress models as they lip-synched the recorded vocals. CALL ME was Phil's Thank You to Aretha, Franklin who recorded 3 of the songs that he and Chuck Jackson (of Natalie Cole & The Independents fame) had written for her.
